Are you building a website? Do you need input on some of the key features your web pages should include? If so, keep reading, this blog has you covered on all you need to know. We will talk about key features for four different pages that should be included when building a website. Those four pages are: The landing page, the contact page, the about us page and lastly the blog page.

What is a landing page

In the world of digital marketing, a landing page is what’s known as a standalone web page. These pages are created specifically for marketing and or advertising campaigns. They are called landing pages because they are the pages a visitor lands on after they click on a link. The links can come from places such as an email, Google ads, Facebook, Instagram etc. Landing pages are designed for one specific goal which is known as the CTA (call to action). With having CTAs on the landing page there is a better chance for increasing conversion rates.

Take note that a landing page and a homepage are not the same thing. One of the main differences between the two is that a homepage has tons of different links for the user to click, while a landing page only has one link. By having fewer links on the landing page conversion rates are able to increase more rapidly. That is because there are fewer clickables making the call to action stand out more. People who are experts in marketing tend to use a dedicated landing page as the place they want to direct traffic.

Features your landing page must have:

  1. A main headline as well as a supporting headline

The headline of the landing page is the first thing that visitors will see. Because it is what visitors will see first it is crucial that it describes what they will get from the page. The message you convey must have enough power to interest the visitor and make them want to stay on your page. Headlines can only say so much and for that it is important to also have supporting headlines.

  1. A distinctive selling proposition

Provide your landing page visitors with an explanation of how your services and products set you apart from the competition. Describe in detail the specific benefits they can expect to receive from your products or services. Having a distinctive selling proposition will set clear expectations for your customers.

  1. The benefits in which you are offering

The benefits you offer must directly follow the distinctive selling proposition as well as provide a more detailed description. This part of the landing page must answer any questions customers may have. The key question that needs to be answered is what your services or products can do for them. It is a good idea to include a summary of benefits in bullet point form while also having more detailed descriptions following the bullet points.

  1. Images or video showing context

By having visual representation you are giving visitors a better view of what it is you are offering or products you are selling.

  1. Social proof

By including social proof you can demonstrate that people have bought what you are offering. There is a greater chance of visitors becoming customers if they see that others have used your services or products. A good way to show social proof on your landing page is to provide customer reviews or testimonials.

  1. A statement of reinforcement

This statement is another title of the page that will be about halfway down the page. The purpose of this is to reinforce the main headline.

  1. Closing arguments

As your landing page comes to an end the closing argument is your last chance to communicate with your visitors the benefits of what you are offering. This is similar to the reinforcement statement as it goes hand in hand with the main headline.

  1. A call to action

The call to action is an important part of conversion rates. It is crucial to think about where you place it and how you design it, you want it to stand out and grab your visitors attention. A good way to make it stand out is by using contrasting colors. It should be exciting but also persuasive. Place the call to action either directly under an image or below the customer testimonial section.

What is a contact page

A contact page is a page on a website that allows users to communicate with the team/owner of the website.

Features your contact page must have:

  1. Phone Number

Many people think that landline numbers look more professional than mobile numbers. If capable it may be a good idea to set up a landline to display a more professional look.

  1. Email address

Although this may be obvious, it is worth mentioning that you want your email domain address to be the same as your business name. By having them the same you are coming across more professional.

  1. Business address

Even if you are not a business who provides services on site, it is a good idea to have your address listed. This is going to help with boosting your ranking in Google search results for locations near you. Listing your address will help search engines get a better understanding of where your business location is.

  1. Contact form

People like having the ability to send a message directly to you without having to ever leave the contact page.

  1. Feedback

A valuable component of a contact page is allowing your customer to tell you about their experience. Letting customers share their thoughts and experiences is an amazing way to be able to connect. It will also make them feel more valued. Having a feedback section will also give you the opportunity to make any changes to things customers were not happy about.

Take a look at a few great contact pages.

What is an “about us” page

This page is dedicated to providing customers with a better insight into who is involved in the business and what the business does exactly. The about us page is a reflection of the purpose of the business. Depending on the specific company, some information about goals, attitude or other aspects of culture that aren’t strictly tied to business are included as well.

Features the “about us” page must have:

  1. A story

A good way to connect with people is through stories. If your business has a story this section is the place to tell it. For example, tell your visitors how your business was founded or how you came up with the name. Also give them a little insight about why your products or services are unique. Try to keep the content simple but at the same time engaging.

  1. Company description

It is vital to have the description of your business within the about us page. Within the description add in the mission statement and value of your business.

  1. Bios and or staff intros

One aspect of making a business seem more real is letting people see the faces of those who are behind the magic. If your business is relatively small, you can add in photos of each employee. Along with the photos provide a written introduction to who they are and what led them to be a part of your business. If your company is on the larger side, take group photos of each department . Have them come together and write an intro specific to their department.

  1. Links

Have links to all your social media platforms incorporated within this page. You can also provide internal links if appropriate.

What is a blog

I know most people reading this already know what a blog is and what it’s all about. For those of you who don’t, I will give you a quick rundown on what a blog is. A blog is a separate page on your website that dives deeper into specific topics. The purpose of a blog is not only to provide readers with information but also to attract new visitors to your site and up your ranking in search engines.

features your blog page must have:

  1. Good design

People love simple things and therefore will spend more time on your blog if it is both simple and functional. A good blog design comes equipped with easy navigation and quick to find content. Make sure your blog has plenty of white spaces and quick load time. The longer it takes for a blog to load the more people will lose interest.

  1. Commenting system

A good way to promote your blog is to allow commenting for the people who have read it. This is a way of knowing people have read the post and gives you insight on how they felt about it. By having a comment section you are providing a way to engage with your readers and further the conversation of the blog topic.

  1. Blog archives

If you have been writing blogs for a while then you must have a great deal of archives. Post archive is an excellent way to keep people on your site and help them discover your past work. Which could possibly relate to what they are in search of. Having this section can help to increase the conversion for first time visitors as they now have an idea of what to expect when coming to your blog section. Not only will it help with first time visitors, but it will also help with regular visitors. It gives them the ability to go back and read posts they may have missed or those they want to read again.

Now that you have read through this blog you have the information you need to add in all the key features necessary for creating your website!
